New Members: Most Common Questions

Welcome to the Ridge! I hope this section of the most asked questions will help you find the information about becoming and being a new member at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

Call the church office at 817-473-1461 or contact me at janet.hart@walnutridge.cc if I can answer any further questions you may have.

Q: How do I join the church?
A: At the time of invitation, at the conclusion of the service, please come forward and talk to one of our ministers about becoming a member of Walnut Ridge. You may ask for church membership by:

(a) A transfer of your church letter if you are currently a member of another Baptist Church
(b) Your statement that you desire to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, looking forward to a believer's baptism by immersion.
(c) Stating that you have been baptized as a member of a Baptist Church
(d) Baptism by immersion, if you are transferring from another denomination.

Membership at Walnut Ridge begins with baptism…whether at a previous church or at the Ridge. The rite of baptism is the heart of our church. It signifies obedience to Christ by following His example.

Q: What is the time of invitation for?
A: Invitation is a time to come forward if:

(a) You feel led by God's Spirit to make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, accepting Him as your Savior.
(b) You feel led by God's Spirit to join our church family.
(c) As a Christian, you feel led by God's Spirit to rededicate your life to Christ, acknowledging your need to make a fresh start in your relationship with Jesus.
(d)You feel led by God's Spirit to surrender your life to some type of Christian vocational service.
(e)You feel led by God's Spirit to ask the Pastor for special prayer.

Q: I just joined the church. What do I do next?
A: If you have been baptized, you are ready for more involvement. If you have not been baptized, you should be contacted soon about setting a date for your baptism. If you have not been contacted, feel free to call the church office to set a date for baptism.

Q: How can I be more involved at WRBC?
A: Sunday morning Bible studies offer a great starting point for being involved at WRBC. The Worship Services (Sunday morning) and Bible Studies (Sunday morning) are the two most important things we do. We are a large church and it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. Sunday morning bible study groups help you to connect with others like yourself.

Q: I have joined a Bible study class. Can I be involved in other areas?
A: Yes! There are many ways to find meaningful involvement in the church. Right away, you can ask your Bible study teacher for ways to help them reach out to other class members. Do you like to sing or play an instrument? Talk to Jaron Barrington about joining the choir or one of the musical productions. People are always needed in service areas such as ushers and greeters, as well as church fellowship committee. Contact Jody Maxwell or Janet Hart and give us an idea of what you would like to do and where we may be able to plug you in.
